A set of ten pre-prepared, numbered, three – pin plugs with common faults. Each plug has the earth pin altered to prevent accidental insertion into a socket.
Faults include:
Earth lead connected to Live terminal
Fuse missing
Cord grip loose
Cord Grip screw missing
No fault
Neutral lead connected to Earth terminal
Live lead connected to Neutral terminal
Pin screw missing
Fuse clip loose
Fuse clip missing
Included are associated cards with fault numbers on one side and fault descriptions on the other.
Two sets of five pre-prepared friction blocks. Each block has two sides double the surface area of the others. Course and fine grades of sandpaper are attached to simulate different material properties. One set of blocks varies in volume from the other set (Set 1: 200x 90x45mm, Set 2: 100x90x45mm), allowing another distinct and comparable set of results. To investigate variations in mass, wooden dowels are included. These can be inserting into two holes on each upper surface allowing masses to be securely added. The end of each block has a central hook, either for the attachment of a Newton meter (not included) or a string/pulley/mass arrangement to allow measurement of the static and kinetic (dynamic) friction forces.
